IT'S A BATTLE OF THE BANDS!

On March 12th, 2000, the Cancer Kids played our second show at Eclipse Records in St. Paul, MN. It was our first show with our new bass player, Matt Heartbreaker (from The Blonde Alibi). We played with, of course, The Blonde Alibi, and the Pissed Robots on Crack (formerly known as UFAG). It was a battle of the bands competition between the Cancer Kids and PROC (The Blonde Alibi was just along for the heck of it).

The Blonde Alibi played first and they were really good. It was fun to see them. I mean, I see them all the time at band practice, but it's different when it's a show. Anyway, that was rocking.

The Cancer Kids played second. We were all dressed up in army costumes, because it was a "battle of the bands." We were better than we were at our first show, despite the fact the Matt hadn't been in the band that long. Well it was fun. During the break in our set, Dorkus gave a speech about how we were at war against PROC. Everyone got down their groove during our "slow" song, "I Can't Save You, I Can't Save The World" and Ninja Rap was a hit as it always is. It was great to see how many people showed up to support us and cheer us on.

PROC played last, and it's a good thing, because things got a little bit crazy near the end. Someone brought the couch from the back of the room up front and people were standing on it. Robots ran around, headlights from one of the costumes got broken, and all in all, they were insanely funny, but made a big mess to clean up.

Anyhow, the Cancer Kids won the battle by only three votes, so it was really close. Thanks to all our dedicated fans!
