IT'S A PUNK ROCK PARTY, BABY!

Some people like to do boring stuff (such as have open houses with relatives they don't even know) to celebrate graduation, but not me. I graduated from high school on June 10th, 1999 (the same day I saw the Retreads, Craig's Brother, and some other bands) and to celebrate I got the Rent-A-Friends to play at my party on June 16th!

It started out really boring. I had invited a whole bunch of people, but a lot of them couldn't come, so not many people showed up. However, Tommy's band, the Rent-A-Friends, agreed to come and were supposed to be at my house at 7:00 p.m. We were sitting around being bored (at least I was) when Tommy called to say that Jake forgot the microphones and they would be late, so they didn't end up getting here until around 9:00 (and the party ended at 10:00). So until then it was boring and we sat around cooking stuff in the fire pit, eating, talking, and doing nothing.

Then finally they got here! My friends and I were helping unload stuff when Tommy realized that he only had one drum stick. He was going to use a stick from a tree for the other one, but it broke. Everything was about to be a disaster, but we solved the problem by getting a wooden spoon from my kitchen for him to use.

Finally they got everything figured out and they started playing. It was great! My friends who hate punk rock even got into it and were dancing and having fun. When they were playing "Rainy Days," Tommy got up during the pause in the song to run over and get a Twinkie and a can of pop, and then ran back in time to finish the song. It was funny! Everything was going great until they got cut short when a cop showed up saying that someone had complained about the noise (I had checked with the neighbors ahead of time to see if it was okay, but apparently the band could be heard at least a block away). So they ended with a really quiet song, with the cop still watching to make sure they stopped playing. At the end of the song Jake changed the lyrics to say "Emily, you'll be in my dreams tonight" so I was just all happy (I don't know why he used my real name because they all call me Sheena). So it turned out to be really fun, and I just can't wait to see them again!

Thanks to Nate, myself, and Mom for taking pictures, the Rent-A-Friends for playing, and Mom for letting me have the party in the first place. No thanks to whoever complained to the cops.

I don't wanna rent any friends!
